Magisterial district judge recertified

1 min read

Magisterial District Judge Joseph M. George Jr. was again certified for service as a member of Pennsylvania’s Unified Judicial System after successfully completing his continuing legal education course work.

Conducted by the Minor Judiciary Education Board and the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts, the educational program for district judges is held in Harrisburg.

The weeklong program is designed to ensure that district judges remain current on a variety of legal topics and management techniques required to fairly adjudicate cases and effectively supervise a district court office.

This year’s curriculum included updates on civil law, landlord/tenant law, criminal law, the state’s motor vehicle code, the gaming code, dog law, ethics, insurance fraud and truancy.

Continuing education course work is required by Pennsylvania statute of each of the more than 500 district judges, with about 50 of them attending one of 13 such classes at some time during each academic year.
