Rita Jean Morris Mazzocco
Rita Jean Morris Mazzocco, age 89, went home peacefully early Saturday morning, February 19, 2011 at Smith Health Care, Mountain Top, PA
Born on February 1, 1922 in Brownsville, PA, she was a daughter of the late Harry “Scamp” Morris and Elizabeth Reilly Morris.
She was raised in Republic, PA and lived the past 55 years in Craig Meadows in Uniontown, PA.
Jean was a graduate of Redstone High School, Republic, PA and California University of Pennsylvania with a BS Degree in Education. She taught Special Education in Pittsburgh City Schools, while her husband attended the University of Pittsburgh Dental School. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Uniontown, PA. Her life was dedicated to her family and friends who will deeply miss her. She was an avid bridge player, where she made many friends. She was a willing servant to many.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Dr. Daniel M. Mazzocco, Sr., an infant son, Harry. a brother, Harry Morris and sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Morris Durinzi.
Jean is survived by her three children: son, Dr. Daniel M. Mazzocco, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Dr. Janet Golaszewski Mazzocco, Mountain Top, PA; daughter, Rita Mazzocco Schelb, and son-in-law, Dr. Ernst J. Schelb, San Antonio, TX; son, Dr. Carl V. Mazzocco, San Antonio, TX and daughter-in-law, Aidana Hahn Mazzocco, San Antonio, TX; grandchildren: Danielle Schelb, Jacqueline Heiman and husband, Adam, Lindsay Mazzocco, Matthew Mazzocco, Dr. Jamie Mazzocco, Brandon Mazzocco, Meghan Mazzocco, and Katlin Mazzocco; a great-grandson, Evan Schelb, brother-in-law, Frank Durinzi and sisters-in-law, Lorraine Mazzocco, Leona Mazzocco, Martha Mazzocco and Rita Cina; numerous nieces, nephews and dear friend, Howard Snyder.
Friends will be received Saturday, February 26, 2011 after 9 a.m. in ST. JOHN THE EVANGELIST CHURCH, 50 Jefferson Street, Uniontown, PA. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Michael Crookston as celebrant.
Interment will take place immediately following in the LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jean’s memory may be made to St. John the Evangelist Church or the charity of the donor’s choice.
