Anna Marie Phelan
Anna Marie Phelan, age 92, a lifelong resident of Smock, PA, passed away on Monday, February 21, 2011 in the LaFayette Manor Nursing Home, Uniontown.
She was born on September 16, 1918 in Smock, daughter of Andrew and Catherine Petrosky.
Her parents, beloved husband, William J. Phelan, sisters, Mary Vichosky, Margaret Sherrin and brothers, Andrew and John Petrosky preceded her in death.
She was a member of St. Hedwig Roman Catholic Church and for many years an active member St. Hedwig Confraternity of Christian Mothers.
Mom was a wonderful baker and cook. As children and adults, we enjoyed our mother’s baking of homemade bread, rolls, cookies and cakes. No one could ever duplicate her spaghetti sauce, which we all liked. She also made many afghans and knitted sweaters for the babies of the family.
We will miss and love our mother always. Of all her loves, first came her family. Her teachings, her guidance, and love will be felt for generations.
Left to cherish her memory are children: Hubert J. Phelan and wife, Ann of Aurora, OH, Nancy Zavatchen and husband, Pat of Brunswick, OH, William J. Phelan, Jr. and wife, Sheila of Uniontown, PA and Rita A. Smith and husband, Mark of Greensburg, PA; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and brothers: George Petrosky and Joseph Petrosky, both of Ohio.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the nursing staffs and caregivers of Celtic Hospice and the Lafayette Manor Nursing Home, for their exceptional and compassionate care of our mom.
