Police probe school gun threat

By The 1 min read

A Uniontown teen is facing charges after he allegedly threatened to bring an assault rifle to Fayette County Area Vocational-Technical School in Georges Township.

Uniontown police K9 Officer Michael C. Garrow Sr. said the 16-year-old Uniontown Area High School student was charged with single count of simple assault in Fayette County Juvenile Court.

Garrow, who is the school resource officer for the Uniontown Area School District, said the incident occurred before noon Monday at the vo-tech while the teen was in a heating and ventilation class.

Garrow said the teen was complaining about having to do work and that a teacher told him to stop complaining.

The student responded by telling the teacher, “I could handle this with an AK-47,” Garrow said. An AK-47 is a Russian-made assault rifle.
