Velia J. Kennedy, 96, of California, Pa., died Wednesday, December 29, 2010.

She was born Wednesday, December 16, 1914, in Phillipsburg, Pa., a daughter of the late Lawrence and Mary (Feloni) Papini.

She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in California, Pa.

In addition to her parents Velia was preceded in death by her husband, James “Fuzzy” Kennedy (1998), three sisters, Theresa Smith, Clara Delarose, and Nora Lutes, and two brothers, Lawrence Papini and Rano Papini.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Gary Kennedy and wife Midge of Coal Center, Pa., Keith Kennedy of Henderson, Nev., and Nikki Noel of California, Pa. Also surviving are her sister, Dora Savage, and six grandchildren: Chuck Kennedy and wife Robin, Donna Julian and husband Brant, Terri Parker and husband Leonard, Greg Kennedy and wife Erin, Chris Noel, and nine great grand-children.

Friends will be received in the MARISCOTTI FUNERAL HOME, INC., Anthony N. Mariscotti, Supervisor, 323 Fourth Street, California, PA on Sunday, January 2, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm and until 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 3, 2011 when a blessing service will be held in the funeral home followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Thomas Aquinas R.C. Church with Fr. George Moneck as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
