By The 1 min read

State police in Waynesburg are investigating a stabbing in Nineveh, Greene County, early Sunday. Norman Dowd, 22, of Carmichaels and Laura Denzer, 20, of Nineveh told police they were out walking when three men stopped, got out of their car and started to assault Dowd just after midnight. One of the men pulled out a pocket knife, and stabbed Dowd in the upper right chest area, police said.

After that, the men fled in a car south on Deer Lick Station Road and west on Route 18, police said. Dowd went to the hospital, and needed two stitches to close the wound, according to police.

At some point during the alleged assault, police said Denzer tried to stop the men and got punched in the stomach and side.

Authorities said the men are white, between 20 and 30 years old, and were wearing dark hooded sweatshirts. The car was described as a dark blue or blue-green, early 1990s model Chevrolet Corsica or Chevrolet Cavalier.
