Manslaughter plea entered

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. (AP) – A south-central Pennsylvania man has pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the shooting death of his wife last year.

Thirty-one-year-old Christopher Jones entered the plea Thursday in Franklin County Court in the Feb. 25 death of 27-year-old Kristin Runyon. He is scheduled to be sentenced March 3.

Police have said that Jones told investigators that he was awakened by noises downstairs in their St. Thomas Township home and believed an intruder was approaching when he fired a .40 caliber handgun.

Officials said the couple had been married just over a year.

Franklin County District Attorney Matthew Fogal declined comment on Thursday’s unscheduled court action. A spokeswoman for defense attorney David Keller told the (Chambersburg) Public Opinion that he would not comment either.
