0006010262-01-1.jpg Clyde M. Tewell, 84, of Uniontown, Pa. passed away Monday, January 10, 2011 in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV. He was born December 5, 1926 in Uniontown, son of the late Elmer Tewell and Ruth Shartzer Tewell Mitchell.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Nancy Tewell in 2010 and a brother, Donnie Tewell.

Surviving are his daughter, Marcy Davison and husband, Bill of Uniontown; his companion, Genie Stender and her children, Elisha, Dawn, Shane and his wife, Trish and a grandson, Owen.

Clyde was a member of Sansom Chapel United Methodist Church. He started out as a farm boy on the Shartzer Farm which is now Nemacolin Woodlands. He drove truck for Frazee Lumber Co. and Collier Truck Service. He opened Tewell Motors in 1953 selling used cars and advanced to dealerships including American Motors, Datsun and Suzuki. He re-opened the State Theater to become the State Music Hall for a number of years, he served on the Board of Directors at Smithfield State Bank and in the 1980’s, backed and promoted the locally successful band Abilene. He was also a Sargeant in the U.S. Army during WWII, guarding German Prisoners.

Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, Hopwood today 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dale Rexrode officiating.

Interment will follow in Sansom Chapel Cemetery,

Farmington, Pa.
