Fairchance, Pt. Marion churches to hold vigil
The Roman Catholic partner parishes of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Fairchance and St. Hubert in Point Marion will hold their second Vigil for Life from 8:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday.
The vigil will take place at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Church, located at 50 N. Morgantown St., Fairchance.
The vigil is offered in support of the annual National Prayer Vigil for Life at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and the annual March for Life, both held Monday in Washington, D.C., to mark the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion.
The vigil will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a Mass of Peace and Justice, followed by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.
The rosary and special prayers will be said throughout the day. An added feature is an intergenerational learning session, which is part of the partner parish faith formation program “Generations of Faith.”
The topic will be “Living the Moral Life: Respect for All Life,” with learning groups for adults, adolescents and families with children.
The schedule includes: 8:30 a.m. Mass; 9 a.m., quiet adoration; 10 a.m., Rosary for Life: The Joyful Mysteries; 11 a.m., Rosary for Life: The Sorrowful Mysteries; noon: Rosary for Life: The Glorious Mysteries; 1 p.m. Rosary for Life: The Luminous Mysteries; 2 p.m., quiet adoration; 3 p.m., Chaplet of the Divine Mercy of God; 4 p.m. Stations of the Cross for Life; 5 p.m., Gospel of Life with music; 6 p.m., intergenerational learning sessions; 8 p.m., Litany for Life, 9 p.m., quiet adoration, 10 p.m., benediction and reposition of the Blessed Sacrament.
