Fire marshal continuing probe of Route 119 blaze

By The 1 min read

The state police fire marshal is continuing to investigate what is now considered a fire of unknown origin that destroyed the Golden Apple Fruit Market in Bullskin Township on Jan. 10. Trooper James L. Garlick said the business, owned by Stephen Redmond of Scottdale, was destroyed in the fire, which occurred around midnight.

The popular produce market on Route 119 was formerly Frank’s Fruit Market.

The market sold garden fruits and vegetables in the summer, pumpkins, cornstalks and other outdoor decor in the fall and Christmas trees in December.

In addition to the Bullskin Township fire department and Fayette EMS, other departments responding to the blaze were Connellsville Township, Everson, Morrell, Scottdale, East Huntingdon, Saltlick Township and Chestnut Ridge.

Garlick said anyone with information about the fire should call him at 724-439-7111.
