The lone local undefeated basketball team fell Friday night, as Norwin defeated Connellsville, 90-81, in Section 1-AAAA action. Despite the loss the Falcons (12-1, 9-1) maintain a game lead over the Knights (9-5, 6-2) for first place in the section, as the teams split the season record.

Matt Palo and Andy Carter accounted for 67 of the Knight’s points, as Palo gunned in 38, while Carter added 29.

The Falcons trailed 24-17 at the conclusion of the first quarter and were behind 45-36 at halftime.

However, the Falcons used a 27-20 scoring advantage in the third quarter to cut the lead to 65-63 at the start the fourth quarter, where the Knights outscored the Falcons 25-20 to preserve the victory.

Johnny Leopard led the Falcons with 26 points, while Trey Vanek and Paul Martin each tallied 20.
