Harry B. McElroy, 79 years, of Hopwood, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 22, 2011.

He was born on Friday, May 22, 1931 in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, the beloved son of Howard K. McElroy and Cecil (Cole) McElroy, both now deceased.

Harry graduated from Wilkinsburg High School and attended Clarion State Teachers College before he entered the United States Marine Corps. He served our country for three years and received the Purple Heart during the Korean Conflict.

He retired in 1993 after working 40 years as a Sales Representative for Endo Laboratories, A. H. Robins Company, and also Wyeth Laboratories.

He had been a resident of Hopwood for 40 years.

He was a member and Elder of Third Presbyterian Church, Uniontown, an active member of the Christian Men’s Fellowship Breakfast group, a member of the Hopwood Lions Club, Laurel Lodge 651 F. & A.M., Lodge of Perfection, Scottish Rite and Shrine.

He was past President of the Smithfield Rotary Club and past President of the Hopwood Village Project, of which he was so proud.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Ethel (Rohrer) McElroy; one son, H. David McElroy and his wife Cindy of McClellandtown and Vanderbilt, Pennsylvania; and one daughter, Mary Anne McMullen and husband Ralph of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania.

Harry and Mary have seven Grandchildren: Lauren Borasky and her husband Jeff, Katie McMullen, Jeffrey M. Tomi Jr., Breanne L. French and husband Jonathan, and Seth D. McElroy. Harry is also survived by his Brother, Wesley L. McElroy and his wife Carol of Plum Boro, Pennsylvania; and many Nephews and Nieces.

Family and Friends will be received in the H. DAVID McELROY FUNERAL HOME, 803 M a i n S t r e e t, McClellandtown, Pennsylvania today, January 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, January 26, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Additional visitation will be held on Thursday, January 27 in THIRD PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 425 Union Street, Uniontown, Pennsylvania from 10 a.m. until 12 Noon, the hour of Service. Rev. Chris Enoch and Rev. William Rodehaver will officiate.

Interment will follow in Church Hill Cemetery, McClellandtown, Pennsylvania

Military Rites and Honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 of Hopwood.
