PAC honors Lombardo
Wrestling Waynesburg University’s Sam Lombardo was named the PAC Wrestler of the Week after going 5-0 for the Yellow Jackets. The freshman had two major decisions, including Washington & Jefferson’s Roja Stephenson, 11-0. Lombardo defeated two Division I opponents to win the title at 157 pounds in the Messiah Open. Lombardo has won his last nine bouts and has lost just once in his past 14.
Football Cal’s Jordan recognized
California University of Pa. senior offensive Dan Jordan was named to the Don Hansen’s Football Gazette Third-Team All-America as announced on Monday. The 6-3 tackle started all 12 games for the Vulcans, helping the offense average nearly 40 points, 170 rushing yards and 400 yards of total offense per game.
Boxing Karpencys on card
Adah native and Albert Gallatin graduate Tommy Karpency will be the main event when professional boxing returns to Harrisburg on Feb. 12 at the Zembo Shrine. Karpency (20-3, 13 KOs) is ranked No. 12 by the WBA and is scheduled for an 8-round light heavyweight bout against Dallas Vargas (22-6, 16 KOs).
Karpency’s brother Jeremy (3-0, 1 KO) will fight heavyweight Jason Bergman (14-9, 10 KOs) on the undercard.
