Evaluation of student sought

1 min read

HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. (AP) – An attorney representing an Altoona high school student charged with stabbing a classmate in front of the school’s field house last month says his client should have a psychiatric evaluation to determine if he can be treated in the juvenile system.

The Altoona Mirror says attorney Thomas Dickey made the request Monday on behalf of 16-year-old Jeremiah Moser, who is charged as an adult with attempted homicide, aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person.

A hearing in the case is scheduled Wednesday in Blair County Court.

Dickey wants the case transferred to juvenile court, and also wants the youth moved from county prison into a juvenile facility or allowed to stay at home. But Deputy District Attorney Jackie Bernard says the sophomore acknowledged having brought the kitchen knife to Altoona Area High School and having planned the Dec. 17 attack.
