Hearing for Waynesburg man facing sex charges continued
WAYNESBURG – A preliminary hearing for a Waynesburg man accused of sexually assaulting a minor, injecting her with drugs and attempting to escape from custody has been continued until next month.
Jason R. Lemley, 22, was arraigned by Waynesburg Borough police on Jan. 19 on two felony counts each of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault and contact with a minor-sexual offenses; one felony count of possessing with intent to deliver a controlled substance; three misdemeanor counts of corruption of minors; two misdemeanor counts each of indecent assault of a person under 16, recklessly endangering another person and simple assault; and a summary count of defiant trespass.
According to the criminal complaint, police were informed Jan. 15 that Lemley had sex with a 15-year-old girl on Dec. 25 at an apartment on West Lincoln Street in Waynesburg. Police were also told that Lemley had allegedly injected the girl with Suboxone by using a hypodermic needle after the girl had given him permission, the complaint states.
Suboxone is a drug used to treat opiate addiction.
Police said Lemley allegedly had sex with the girl again at the same location on Jan. 11, even though a notice was posted on the premises on Dec. 28 indicating that Lemley was prohibited from being in the building or on the grounds, or else he would be cited for defiant trespass, the complaint states.
Police said they interviewed Lemley on Jan. 19 at the county probation office, at which time he allegedly admitted to having sex with the girl and using the hypodermic needle on her, the complaint states.
Following arraignment before Magisterial District Judge Lou Dayich, Lemley was placed in Greene County Jail on $20,000 bail.
Additional charges were filed against Lemley the next day after he attempted to escape from police custody and resisted arrest following his arraignment Jan. 19.
Police said after failing to post bail, Lemley requested to hug his mother before being remanded to jail, and while hugging her he pushed her aside and fled down the hallway and out the door, ignoring the police officers’ commands to stop, the complaint states.
He was quickly apprehended on the sidewalk in front of Dayich’s office and resisted arrest before being restrained by police, the complaint states.
Lemley was arraigned on one additional felony count each of escape and resisting arrest Jan. 20. Bail for these charges was set at $50,000 straight, according to reports.
Lemley’s preliminary hearing on all of the charges had been scheduled for Wednesday before Dayich but the hearing was continued until 1:30 p.m. Feb. 3. He remains in jail on bail.
