Cancer benefit
A benefit for Childhood Cancer Awareness will be held in honor of 3-year-old Paxton Seneri on from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday at the Masontown Italian Club. Profits from the $5 donation will be donated to Childhood Cancer Awareness.
The evening is open to the public and will include a disc jockey, refreshments for purchase and raffles.
The Seneri family is grateful to everyone who has helped with prayers and support during this difficult time.
Pal’s Club Ladies
The Pal’s Club Ladies Auxiliary will meet Wednesday at the regular meeting time. Committee chairman is Linda Biskup. The $5 gift will be donated by Mary Lou Brenzy.
Valentine dance
The Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary is sponsoring a Valentine dance from 7 p.m. to midnight Feb. 12. Tickets are $10 per person and include music by “A Step Above Entertainment,” kielbasa and sauerkraut, vegetable pizza, meatball sandwiches, shrimp cocktail, pepperoni and cheese trays, vegetable tray, cookies, spinach dip and crackers, table snacks, beer on tap, pop, bottled water and coffee. Masontown Matters
Any organizations, groups or individuals interested in planning for or being involved in the annual Masontown 4th of July celebration should attend the next Masontown Matters meeting to be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the VFW on River Avenue. The public’s input can help make it another successful celebration.
Birthday celebration
Frances Batis celebrated her 90th birthday on Jan. 13. A party was held in her honor at the All Saints Social Hall on Jan. 15. Helping her to celebrate were her five children, 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 110 guests, including Father Butler. Happy birthday greetings go and many more go to Mrs. Batis.
Little Knights
Little Knights Baseball League will hold beginning signups from 6 to 8 p.m. on March 3, 4, and 10 at the Masontown Elementary School cafeteria.
Signups will be held for ballplayers ages 6 to 17 and will include: Coach Pitch, ages 6, 7, and 8 (T-Ball); Mustang League, ages 9 and 10; and Bronco League, ages 11 and 12.
Ballplayers 12 years old or younger will have a fee of $15 for each player. Each additional member of the same family will be $10 each.
Pony League members, ages 13 and 14, will have a fee of $75 each, and the Colt League, ages 15, 16 and 17, will be charged $90 per player.

Oldies dance
The McClellandtown Volunteer Fire Department will hold an oldies dance from 8 p.m. until midnight Saturday at the social hall. Disc jockey Arnie Amber will play oldies music from the past. It will be a BYOB with setups, beer and snacks provided by the fire company.
Admission is $10 per person and patrons must be 21 or older to attend. Advance tickets are available with only 250 tickets being sold. For tickets, call 724-737-5081.
Dinner theater
Musical Mysteries & More and All Saints Regional School presents “The Tragic Demise of Alfred the Squatty,” an unusual suspect mystery dinner theater on Saturday at the All Saints Social Hall in Masontown. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 5:45 p.m.
Tickets for this event are $35 per person. Tables can be reserved for parties of 8 or 12. For reservations, call All Saints Regional School at 724-583-2141.
Community Kitchen
The next Masontown Community Kitchen meal will be served Tuesday beginning at 4 p.m. The menu is baked chicken, roasted potatoes, vegetables, Panera breads and desserts.
The Community Kitchen is located in the First Presbyterian Church at 102 W. Church Ave., where meals are served between 4 and 7 p.m. every other Tuesday.
Everyone is asked to invite someone to attend who you may know is in need of a nutritious meal and a generous serving of social and spiritual fellowship and the hometown hospital-ity found there. The soup kitchen’s meals are free to anyone in need, but donations are welcome and are used to provide the food and supplies for the kitchen.
