?A Connellsville man was killed Wednesday night when the motorcycle he was riding crashed in Connellsville Township.

State police Trooper Edward Stasko said Daniel Lee McLaughlin, 22, was killed when his motorcycle crashed on Grandview Avenue.

Stasko said McLaughlin was traveling north on Grandview on his 2009 Suzuki 400SM, and while attempting to negotiate a curve in the road he lost control of the motorcycle.

Stasko said McLaughlin left the road and struck a sewer pipe.

McLaughlin continued to travel north, crossing Vista Avenue, before striking a tree, Stasko said.

Stasko said McLaughlin was thrown from the motorcycle and landed on Vista Avenue.

McLaughlin was later pronounced dead at the scene by Fayette County Deputy Coroner Dennis Heath.

The official cause and manner of death remain pending further investigation by police and the coroner’s office.

In addition to state police, volunteer firefighters from Connellsville Township and emergency personnel from Fayette EMS responded to the crash.
