North Union man charged for alleged role in 2010 fatal crash
A North Union Township man is facing charges for homicide by vehicle in the 2010 death of a Scottdale woman.
State police said Gregory R. Reshenberg, 20, of 105 Wayside Dr. was charged Friday in Westmoreland County district court with homicide by vehicle and four other traffic-related charges for his role in the death of Amanda L. Mitchell.
Police allege that on June 21, 2010 Reshenberg was driving a 2003 Acura on Route 819 in East Huntingdon Township when the car traveled off the west side of the road and struck a utility pole before overturning.
Mitchell, Reshenberg and two other passengers, Derek Miller of Grindstone and Frank Kuhns of Donegal, were all taken by medical helicopter to UPMC-Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh following the crash.
Police said Mitchell died at the hospital at the following day.
Reshenberg, Miller and Kuhns each suffered moderate injuries.
Mitchell died less than one month after she graduated from Southmoreland Senior High School in Alverton.
Police allege when the crash occurred Reshenberg was traveling 63 mph and was driving recklessly.
He was released on unsecured bond following his arraignment Friday.
A preliminary hearing is tentatively set for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Westmoreland County.
