By Heraldstandard.Com 1 min read

State legislators and public school officials will address questions and concerns regarding the state education budget cuts during a town hall meeting set for Thursday.

?The meeting, scheduled to begin at 6?p.m. at the South Union Fire Hall on South Mount Vernon Avenue, will feature remarks from state representatives and education officials who will discuss the newly passed state budget and its impact on education.

According to Tom Landman, a teacher in the Laurel Highlands School District, the meeting has been organized to bring a better understanding to the public regarding the near billion-dollar state cuts in education.

“This gives everyone an opportunity to take a look at what cuts have been made in education at the state level and to see firsthand what the school districts have needed to do,” he said.

The meeting is open to all including current and retired educators, union members, parents and citizens.
