Floretta ‘Midge’ Kern Bradley
Floretta ‘Midge’ Kern Bradley, 98, of Connellsville passed from this life to her Heavenly Home on Friday July 8, 2011.
She was born December 16, 1912, a daughter of the late George S. and Minnie P. Morris Kern.
She graduated from Connellsville High School in 1930.
She married the late Claude E. Bradley, May 21, 1935.
Midge assisted Claude, who was the South Connellsville Tax Collector, for close to 30 years. In fact, many people came to their home to pay taxes, just so they could visit with ‘Midge’.
Midge loved people and spent time volunteering and teaching Bible School at the East Connellsville EUB Church, of which she was a member for many years. She was a charter member of the Church of the Open Door and also attended Faith Bible Church. She and Claude spent their retirement years travelling by motor home throughout the United States and Canada and wintered in Florida. When not travelling, she and Claude loved to spend time visiting their daughter and son-in-law and two grandchildren. In later years, Midge enjoyed her four great-grand-children, Matt, Mariah, Ryan and Tim. They all loved ‘Mema’ Midge and spent many hours chatting about the ‘good old days’, learning history from her perspective.
Midge is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Claudia L. Bradley Cunningham and Scott D. Cunningham of Barrington, NH; grandson and wife, Bradley and Vonda Cunningham and great grandsons, Matt and Ryan also of Barrington, NH; granddaughter and husband, Colleen and Jamie MacDonald and great-granddaughter, Mariah and great-grandson, Tim of Eliot, ME and one sister, Dorothy Love of Connellsville. She also had many nieces and nephews living in the Connellsville area.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Thursday, July 14, 2011 in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, where services will be held at 11 A.M. Friday with Rev. Barry Witt officiating.
Interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville.
