Mary Louise Softcheck
Mary Louise Softcheck, age 83 years, of Rowes Run, died, Monday, July 11, 2011 in the LaFayette Manor Nursing Home, Uniontown.
She was born September 22, 1927 in Mommoth, PA. She was the daughter of Charles Baker and Mary Fultz Baker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John E. ‘Sam’ Softcheck in 2003, two sisters, Alice Jean Greene and Marjorie Mason and two brothers, Charles William Baker and Hubert Baker.
Mary Louise was a 1945 graduate of Redstone Area High School, entered the Brownsville Cadet Nursing Program and also graduated from Mason Frederick Beauty Academy. She operated a beauty shop in her home at Rowes Run while raising her sons. She later became a postal worker and retired as the Uledi Postmaster in 1996. Her friends and family knew her as an avid bingo player and enjoyed socializing at the games. Mary Louise lived in Rowes Run and Grindstone most of her life and was a life long member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church, Brownsville, PA, and an active member of the World Day of Prayer Program.
Surviving are two sons: Terrence J. Softcheck of Uniontown and Robert S. Softcheck and his wife and wonderful daughter-in-law, Bonnie of Uniontown; a sister, Helen Knupsky and her husband, Charles Knupsky; grandchildren: Anastasia, Kellie, Wendy, Tanya and her husand, Jason Tost, Terra L. and Nikolai J.; eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown PA, where family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2 until 4 PM and 7 until 9 PM. on Thursday, July 14, 2011 from 9 AM until 10 AM, followed by a service celebrating Mary Louise’s life at 10 AM with Rev. Robert Schaefer officiating.
Interment will follow in the LaFayette Memorial Park.
