?One person suffered injuries and had to be extricated from an overturned car Thursday following a three-vehicle collision in Uniontown.

Uniontown police Patrolman Thomas Kolencik said James Smiley, 88, of Uniontown appeared to have suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision, which occurred at 4:22?p.m. at the intersection of Derrick Avenue and Craig Street.

Kolencik said Smiley was trapped in the vehicle for about 10 minutes before Uniontown firefighters were able to free him.

According to Kolencik, Smiley was traveling north on Derrick Avenue when a sport utility vehicle driven by Larry Fetsko, 58, of Uniontown allegedly attempted to make a left turn from Craig Street onto Derrick Avenue.

Kolencik said Smiley swerved into the oncoming lane of traffic, colliding with a minivan driven by Marcia Beck, 59, also of Uniontown, who was heading south on Derrick Avenue.

Smiley was transported by ambulance to Uniontown Hospital, Kolencik said, noting that Fetsko was taken to the hospital by private vehicle as a precaution because of a preexisting medical condition.

Kolencik said neither Beck nor her son, who was a passenger in her vehicle, were injured.

No charges are expected to be filed as a result of the crash.

Uniontown Firemen’s Ambulance and American Ambulance assisted police and firefighters at the scene.
