David W. Smith, 45 years, of Dry Knob Hill, Smithfield, Pennsylvania passed away on Friday, July 15, 2011 at home with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania on M o n d a y, December 27, 1965 the son of Harry Smith and Maxine (Hearn) Smith of Uniontown.

Dave was employed at Stone and Company in Charleroi, Pennsylvania for many years.

Dave was a member of the Fairchance Volunteer Fire Department for 26 years, currently serving as Assistant Chief and Secretary.

Surviving are his loving family: his wife of 22 years, Veronica Volek Smith; two daughters: Holly Smith and Haley Smith; parents, Harry and Maxine Smith; brother, Dale Smith and wife Diane of Goldsboro, North Carolina; sister, Darlene Phillips and husband Donald, Fairchance, Pennsylvania; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Nancy and John Volek of Smithfield; sisters and brothers-in-laws, Debbie Volek, Kathy Snyder, John and Fran Volek and Greg Volek; nieces and nephews.

Family will receive Friends in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa. on Monday from 2 to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 until 11 a.m., the hour of the Service with Rev. Paul Lesher officiating.

Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Fairchance, Pennsylvania.

The Fairchance Volunteer Fire Department will hold a Memorial Service in Funeral Home on Monday at 7 p.m.

The family would like to especially thank the Fairchance Firemen’s Ambulance Service and very close friends, Paul and Rita Thomas, for all of the love and care given to Dave during his illness.
