Washington County plans electronics recycling event
The Washington County Planning Commission will be holding its annual electronics recycling collection event from 10?a.m. to 2?p.m. Saturday at the Washington County Fairgrounds.
The event will be open to the public. No Washington County residential verification is needed.
?The electronics waste will be collected by JVS Environmental of Rockwood.
JVS ensures that all waste accepted will be properly recycled, according to current state and federal guidelines.
Items to be collected include computer monitors (CRTs and LCDs); computer towers and bases (CPUs); mice, keyboards and speakers; notebook computers; printers; copiers and fax machines (fees may apply to larger floor models, depending on size); telephone equipment; testing and lab equipment; televisions (CRTs and LCDs); non-freon-containing household appliances (white goods); lead-acid automobile batteries; answering machines: radios and typewriters. All items will be collected free of charge.
Also, 4- and 8-foot fluorescent tubes and compact fluorescent lights (CFL) will be accepted for a charge of $ 1 per bulb.
Lab or testing equipment containing hazardous materials will not be accepted.
Any participant with more than 20 items must call in advance to make arrangements.
The Washington County Fairgrounds are located at 2151 N. Main St., in Arden.
