Edward J. Boshinsky, age 87, of Uniontown, PA, passed away peacefully at the Uniontown Hospital, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, July 17, 2011.

He was born on April 11, 1924 in Perryopolis, PA, son of the late Michael Boshinsky, Sr. and Lottie (Rittenour) Boshinsky.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Patsy R. Clemmer; three brothers, Frank Boshinsky, Ernest Boshinsky, who died while serving his country during WWII and Mike Boshinsky; two sisters, Ethel Mae Boshinsky Adams, and Anna Belle Boshinsky Troup.

Edward retired from Steel Scaffolding Company in 1988. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the mountains and his daily walks.

He proudly served his country during WWII with the United States Merchant Marines from 1943 to 1946, aboard the USS Claremont Victory and USS John Barton Payne. He was decorated with the WWII Victory Medal, Merchant Marine Emblem, Atlantic War Zone Combat Bar, Honorable Service Button and received the Presidential Testimonial Letter signed by Harry S. Truman.

He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-four years, Helen (Opar) Boshinsky, with whom he was united in marriage at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church on August 23, 1947; their daughter, Helen Marie ‘Babe’ (Boshinsky) Clemmer of Smithfield, PA; two grandchildren, Shawn Clemmer and wife Lauren Clemmer of Uniontown, PA and Stacy Marie Clemmer Netzel and husband Frank Netzel, III of Greensburg, PA; a great granddaughter, Mallory Elizabeth Clemmer; several nieces and nephews and a very special niece, Rose Petrey.

Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA, on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday, July 21, 2011 until 10:30 a.m., when the Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Father Ronald P. Larko Officiating.

Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Hopwood, PA, where military honors will be accorded at graveside.
