North Versailles man sought in alleged rape

?State police are looking for a North Versailles man who allegedly raped a teenage girl on a trail at a Saltlick Township camping area on July 4.
Daaron Anthony Shears, 19, was charged with rape, statutory sexual assault and sexual assault by Trooper Heather L. Clem on Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge Ronald Haggerty Jr.
Shears allegedly forced himself on a 15-year-old girl at the Mount Pines RV Resort on Indian Creek Valley Road in Champion sometime between 9 and 10?p.m.
Clem indicated in an affidavit of probable cause that she met with the teenage girl on July 7, the day after the alleged victim told her family what had happened and was examined at Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh.
On July 7, North Versailles police were called to Shears’ home for a disturbance, and Clem indicated they interviewed Shears about the alleged rape. At that time, Shears denied having contact with the girl, and was told to contact Clem for a further interview.
After trying several different phone numbers to get in touch with Shears — and being unsuccessful — Clem filed the charges, and Haggerty issued a warrant for Shears’ arrest.
He is a black man with black eyes, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 175 pounds. He has a tattoo of a star on his left cheek, and a set of lips tattoed on his neck.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call police at 724-439-7111.
