Uniontown man headed to trial on drug charges

By Josh Krysakheraldstandard.Com 1 min read

A Uniontown man will stand trial on multiple drug charges after police allege he sold drugs to an undercover police officer in South Union Township.

Detectives from the Fayette County Drug Task Force said Matthew Mark Caton, 25, was charged before Magisterial District Judge Joseph M. George Jr. with possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession of heroin, criminal conspiracy of possession with intent to deliver heroin, aggravated assault and criminal mischief following the sting in October.

During a preliminary hearing Wednesday, George held all drug-related charges and the criminal mischief charge against Caton for Fayette County Court.

The aggravated assault charge was dismissed.

Police said the charges were filed against Caton after he and an accomplice sold 10 stamp bags of heroin for $150 to undercover police in a parking lot in South Union on Oct. 12.

When police revealed their identity and tried to take Caton and the woman into custody, officers allege that Caton used his car to strike one of the police officers and also struck a parked undercover police vehicle.
