Police identify shooting victim in Uniontown
Police have identified the man who suffered a gunshot wound to his left leg during an apparent drive-by shooting in Uniontown Wednesday night.
According to Officer Jamie Holland, officers were dispatched to a residence at 77 Coolspring St. for a report of a man being shot at 9:23 p.m. When police arrived, Patrolman Thomas Kolencik said they found Robert Harris, 18, of 13 North St. lying on a sofa suffering a gunshot wound to his upper left thigh.
Holland said Harris told police that someone in a black car drove up the street, turned around and drove back down the street and fired a single shot.
Harris told officers that he initially didn’t know he was shot and thought the person in the car had thrown a firecracker at him, Kolencik said, adding that the man realized he was shot after his leg started to burn.
Kolencik said a shell casing was recovered at the scene.
Harris was taken by Uniontown Firemen’s Ambulance to Uniontown Hospital and was subsequently flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va., for treatment.
He was treated and released from the hospital Thursday morning, police said.
Holland said Harris suffered a clean gunshot wound and that the bullet entered the front of Harris’ upper thigh and exited out the back of the leg.
Police said they are continuing to investigate and have not identified any suspects.
Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to call police at 724-439-7111.
