Uniontown police said they are looking for a Uniontown man accused of assaulting his girlfriend when she tried to leave their residence with the couple’s children early Wednesday.

Officer Frederick Kampert said Magisterial District Judge Joseph M. George Jr. issued a warrant for the arrest of Sheldon Lee Marks, 24, on charges of simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, harassment, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

Kampert said the charges were filed after Marks’ live-in girlfriend, Lisa Hairston, 22, attempted to leave the couple’s residence in Pershing Court with their children because she told officers that Marks had been drinking and often becomes violent after consuming alcohol.

Hairston said as she attempted to leave with her cousin shortly after 1 a.m. when Marks assaulted her, punching her in the face multiple times and grabbing her by the throat on the sidewalk outside their home, Kampert said.

Kampert said that he noted visible injuries to Hairston’s face, neck, right arm and right foot.

Kampert said that her shirt was torn.

Kamert said he and Officer Raymond Miller searched the area around the couple’s home for Marks but were initially unable to locate him.

He will face a preliminary hearing in the case at a later date before Magisterial District Judge Michael M. Metros.

Anyone with information regarding Marks whereabouts is asked to call police at 724-430-2929.
