Beth-Center valedictorian, salutatorian to address peers Thursday
The 79 seniors of the Bethlehem-Center High School Class of 2011 will receive their diplomas during graduating ceremonies scheduled for Thursday.
Lindsey Nelson of Marianna is this year’s valedictorian.
?In school, Nelson was active in track and field, Make-a-Wish, Spanish and Film clubs and the reading competition team. She also served as the newspaper editor, class secretary, wrestling statistician and was the co-captain of the volleyball team.
Nelson was the Rotary Club Student of the Month and was a three-time winner of The Challenge Program award for the best cumulative grade point average. She was also a member of the Reading Competition Team 2010 Champions.
Outside of school, Nelson is active with the football field and Paw Print Painting.
She plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg this fall to study Spanish and journalism.
Nelson is a daughter of David and Amy Nelson of Marianna.
Kayla Patterson of Brownsville is Bethlehem-Center’s 2011 salutatorian.
While in school, Patterson was active as the Youth Traffic Safety Council president, Class of 2011 treasurer and physics club treasurer. She was also involved in the Leo club, National Honor Society, recycling team and Make-a-Wish.
Patterson is the recipient of the Bausch & Lomb Science Award and placed first in the PJAS Regional Meet and second place in the PJAS State Meet. Patterson plans to attend Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus to study nursing.
She is a daughter of Joel and Danielle Patterson of Brownsville.
