LH wrestles with budget
Even if the Laurel Highlands School District uses its entire fund balance for the 2011-12 budget, there will still be an anticipated $900,000 shortfall.
That’s what business manager Greg Hensh told the board Wednesday during a budget and finance committee meeting. As many as 14 retirements are anticipated, which could affect that figure, Hensh said.
Hensh said the state House version of the budget provides $200 million more for education than the governor’s budget, but doesn’t provide additional money for Laurel Highlands. The proposed budgets cut $2.2 million from the district.
