Martin James Ondrejko, Jr.
Martin James Ondrejko, Jr., 93, of Smithfield, Pa. died Monday, May 30, 2011.
He was born November 26, 1917 in Rubles Mill, Pa., son of Martin J. Ondrejko, Sr. and Mary Kozora Ondrejko.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Emil Ondrejko, John Ondrejko and Edward Ondrejko; sisters, Mary Radvansky and Helen Hardy; brothers-in-laws, Adam Radvansky, Andy Hardy and William Sculley and nephew, Adam Radvansky, Jr.
Martin was a graduate of Georges Township High School in 1934, served in the US Navy from 1935 to 1938 and then reenlisted for active duty during WW II from 1941 to 1945, when he was Honorably Discharged as Chief Yoeman. He was then employed with Federal Civil Service until his retirement in 1971 as an Area Supply Officer with the US Army .
He was a member of the Ss. Cyril and Methodius R.C. Church in Fairchance; the Holy Rosary Society; Uniontown Knights of Columbus 1275, 3rd Degree; Albert Gallatin Assembly of Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree and VFW Post 47, Uniontown, Pa.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Pauline Petish Ondrejko; brothers, Joseph Ondrejko, State of Florida and Thomas Ondrejko of Washington, Pa.; sisters, Julia Sculley, State of California and Anna Durant, Connellsville, Pa. and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., on Thursday from 6-9 p.m. and on Friday, June 3, 2011 until 10:30 a.m., when a Prayer service will be held. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Ss. Cyril and Methodius R.C. Church, 50 North Morgantown Street, Fairchance, Pa. with Rev. Father Andrew M. Kawecki as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Fairchance, Pa.
Parish Wake Service will be held Thursday at 8:45 p.m.
