Irene Bercik Sustrik, age 91, of Daisytown, Pennsylvania died Tuesday, May 31, 2011 in Adult Assisted Living, Dunlevy, Pennsylvania.

She was born on Monday, April 19, 1920 in Daisytown, Pennsylvania the daughter of John Bercik and Julia Takach Bercik.

Mrs. Sustrik was a very dedicated Homemaker.

She owned and operated Dual Spring Farm with her husband Mike for 33 years.

She was a member of Saint John’s Lutheran Church in Charleroi, Pennsylvania for over 70 years, was President of The Ladies Aid Society of Saint John’s Lutheran Church for over 20 years and also on the Church Council.

Irene supervised many bake sales and dinners at Saint John’s Lutheran Church.

She was also a member of the W e s t e r n Pennsylvania Farmers A s s o c i a t i o n, the West Pike Run Grange, the Deemston Grange, and The Center in the Woods in California, Pennsylvania.

She enjoyed gardening, canning, making loomed rugs, dancing and playing cards.

Her husband, Mike Sustrik Jr., died Thursday, December 6, 1990. Also deceased are her parents; two sisters, Julia King and Betty Kundrik; three brothers, Steve Bercik, Alfred Bercik and brother in infancy.

Surviving are one daughter, Charlene Skriba (John) of Fallowfield Township, Pennsylvania; one son, Robert M. Sustrik (Joni) of Lawrence, Pennsylvania; grandchildren: J o h n S k r i b a Jr. (Lisa), T o d d S k r i b a (Kim), Charlynn Scheuermann (Carl), R o b i n D u r i l a (Paul), Roberta Clutter (Todd) and Denise Yoho (Craig); 13 great grandchildren: Jakob Skriba, Jeriamiah Skriba, C a s e y B e a t t y (Jim), A n t o n Scheuermann, D a n i e l Scheuermann, K a t i e Scheuermann, J u l i a Scheuermann, Jacob Durila, Emily Durila, Naomi Clutter, Trenton Clutter, T i f f a n y Hamilton, Natalie Hamilton, and Mallory Hamilton; two foster children: John Fayish Jr. (Fran) of Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania and Patty Lingis (Rick) of Vestaburg, Pennsylvania; foster grandchildren: Michael Fayish, Jaron Fayish, Jennifer Lingis, Rick Lingis; numerous nieces and nephews; and a loyal friend, John Veltri.

F u n e r a l arrangements were private and were under the direction of the JOHN B. GREENLEE FUNERAL HOME, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, PA 15313.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to the D a i s y t o w n Presbyterian Church, P o s t Office Box 76, Daisytown, PA 15427 where she was baptized, confirmed and married or to Saint John’s Lutheran Church, 327 Washington Avenue, Charleroi, PA 15022.
