?Uniontown firefighters had rappelling equipment ready but didn’t need to rappel down to an elevator that became stuck at the Fayette Bank Building, located at 50 W. Main St., for more than two hours following a power failure May 23. Harnessed firefighters were instead able to gain access to the stuck elevator through a nearby unit and horizontally cross the elevator shaft to free two people trapped inside by forcibly opening the elevator doors without cutting through them.
