Stephen ‘Steve’ Matthew Komacko
Stephen ‘Steve’ Matthew Komacko, age 95, of Star Junction, Pa., passed away in Mt. Macrina Manor on Wednesday, June 8, 2011.
He was born on December 11, 1915, son of the late Matthew Sparinga Komacko and Catherine (Grubal) Komacko.
He was preceded by his wife, Ann (Yusko) Komacko, son, Gary Paul Komacko, brother, Albert, sister, Helen and daughter-in-law, Carol Komacko.
Steve retired from being a coal miner after 45 years of service. He was a member of the United Mine Workers, founding member of Star Junction Rod and Gun Club, a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Sokols.
He is survived by sons: Steven Komacko of Star Junction, Vince Komacko and wife, Jane of Grindstone, Pa., John Komacko and wife, Linda of Monticello, IN; daughter, Pamela Anderson of Star Junction; daughter-in-law, Janet Komacko of Grindstone; brother, Anthony Sparinga and wife, Fran of Perryopolis; grandchildren: John Komacko and wife, Corrine of Brownsburg, IN, Stephen Anderson and wife, Susie of Belle Vernon, Pa., Craig Anderson and wife, Patty of Donora, Pa., Jennifer Ousley and husband, Jim of Monticello, IN, Vincent Komacko and wife, Tammy of Uniontown and Tricia Anderson and fiance’, Steve Petit and eleven great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received in the BLAIR-LOWTHER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 305 Rear Independence Street, Perryopolis, Pa., Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where a Prayer Service will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Perryopolis, Pa. with the Rev. Father Bob Lubic as Celebrant.
Interment will be held in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Perryopolis, Pa., 15473.
A Wake Service will be held Friday in the funeral home.
