Walter ‘John’ (Speedy) Franczyk, Jr.
Walter ‘John’ (Speedy) Franczyk, Jr., age 67, of McClellandtown passed away Sunday, June 12, 2011 in UPMC Presbyterian Montefiore, Pittsburgh.
He was born July 15, 1943 in Uniontown, son of the late Walter Franczyk, Sr. and Mary Holenka Franczyk.
John was a member of St. Thomas R.C. Church in Footedale, where he served on the Parish Council.
He was a retired foreman at Maple Creek Mine, President of Footedale Fire Department, a life member of McClellandtown Fire Department and a member of the Polish Club. He was Vice-President and life member of Messmore Rod & Gun Club, Fairbank Rod & Gun Club, Turkeyfoot Gun Club and Big Bend Boat Club.
John lived his life for his family, especially his beloved grandchildren.
He will be missed by many.
He is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Dolores Myers Franczyk; his two daughters: Debbie Franczyk of Messmore and Carol Dupont and husband, Rodney of McClellandtown; two grandchildren: Kayla and Cole Dupont; his brother, Bernie Franczyk and wife, Linda of Confluence; two nieces: Stephanie Chester and Amanda Franczyk and his beloved dog, Lily.
Friends will be received in DEARTH FUNERAL HOME, New Salem today, June 14, 2011 from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, June 15, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday, June 16, 2011, until 9:30 a.m., when brief prayers will be said in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Thomas R. C. Church with Rev. Father Peter L. Peretti as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in St. Thomas Church Cemetery, Footedale.
Footedale Fire Department will hold services this evening at 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
Parish Wake Service will be held Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
