Road projects wrapping up in German Twp.

?GERMAN TWP. — Various road projects are wrapping up in German Township.

Supervisors announced at Tuesday’s regular meeting that a road reconstruction project on Grange, Crossview Acres and Sumey roads has been completed. The project was paid with a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) through the Fayette County Redevelopment Authority. The project was completed by A.C. Moyer Co. Inc. of Lemont Furnace at a cost of $123,455.

The project covered 6,170 feet of road and benefits 1,207 residents.

A paving project on Baker Hill and Lutheran Church roads will be completed before the end of the month. The paving portion of the project has been completed, leaving only shoulder work to be done. The project was funded by Burnett Oil Co. of Fort Worth, Texas, with a regional office in the Canonsburg area. The company is using the roads for activities related to natural gas drilling.

Supervisors said they recently installed 1,400 feet of Verizon cable to add a phone line to German-Masontown Park. Previously, the park had no landline phone capability in case of an emergency.

In other business:

n A resident who asked the supervisors for assistance in the removal of debris from a neighbor’s yard thanked the supervisors for taking action and making sure the area was cleaned up.

n Supervisors reminded residents that recycling will take place during Monday through Wednesday on the residents’ regular garbage day.

n Supervisors announced the next regular township meeting is scheduled for 6?p.m. July 12.
