Man injured in accidental North Union Township fire
A fire on Pittsburgh Road in North Union Township late Thursday led to the longtime occupant of the home being flown to a hospital for treatment of burns.
?State police Cpl. Thomas Maher said the man who lived in the home, David Bukovan, managed to get out of his home at 1186 Pittsburgh Road before emergency crews arrived on scene of the 11:45?p.m. blaze.
“One of the firemen found him on the edge of the road,” Maher said. “He made it out of his home and collapsed.”
Bukovan’s condition was unknown Friday.
Maher said the fire was accidental, and started because of electrical difficulties in the basement of the house.
He noted there were no smoke detectors in the house.
A passing fireman from West Leisenring saw the fire and reported it to Fayette County 911, Maher said.
The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services team provided assistance to firefighters and other emergency personnel, and counseled one person.
