Milton Skrobacs
Milton Skrobacs, age 89, of Smyrna, DE passed away on Monday, June 20, 2011 at Kent General Hospital in Dover, DE.
Mr. Skrobacs was born December 28, 1921 in Vestaburg, PA, the son of the late Andrew and Katherine Mundralla Skrobacs.
He retired as a Fire Boss from Vestaburg Coal Mine in Washington, PA after 28 years. Prior to that, Mr. Skrobacs worked for J&L Steel for nine years.
He was a member of Daisytown Presbyterian Church, Daisytown Athletic Club, Daisytown Hungarian Club, PNA, American Legion, and Polish National Alliance.
Mr. Skrobacs served his country with honor as a Sgt. in the United States Army Air Force.
He was very handy with his hands and always interested in bartering services with others. He loved vegetable gardening and berry picking and enjoyed discussing gardening tips and trading seeds that he garnered. Mr. Skrobacs enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labors with others.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Lawrence M. Skrobacs; three brothers: Walter, Benjamin and Joseph and three sisters: Mary, Ann and Sophia.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Grace; a daughter, Kathy Castro and her husband Bob of Smyrna, DE; two grandchildren: Nick Castro of Smyrna and Maria Correll and her husband, Rob of Smyrna; four great-grandchildren, Chloe, Dominic, Chase and Leah and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the GREENLEE FUNERAL HOME, located on 2830 Main St., Beallsville, PA.
Funeral services will begin at 12 noon.
Burial will be in the Phillipsburg Cemetery in California, PA.
