Rodger L. Firestone Sr.
Rodger L. Firestone Sr., age 70, of Connellsville, Bullskin Township, Pennsylvania passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2011 in the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Rodger was b o r n o n Monday, March 31, 1941 in Connellsville, Pennsylvania the son of Harry L. ‘Red’ Firestone and Emma J. Prough Firestone.
Rodger was a lifelong resident of Bullskin Township.
He graduated in the Class of 1959 from Connellsville High School.
Prior to his retirement, he worked as an Upkeep Man for Anchor Hocking Glass in South Connellsville.
He was a life member of the National Rifle Association (NRA) and a social member of the South Connellsville Firemen’s Club.
Rodger loved his country and was a staunch patriot of America.
He lived for his family and will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by his loving wife of 50 years, M. Irene Shipley Firestone; his adoring children R o d g e r L. Firestone Jr. of Stafford, Virginia, Lori L. Firestone of Connellsville, S c o t t H. F i r e s t o n e of Connellsville and Jeff W. Firestone, Winchester, Indiana his wonderful grandchildren: Justin Ritch, Sarah Jervis, Pascal, Kailee, and Tessa Firestone, Jeff F i r e s t o n e Jr., Dean Firestone, Kaylen Eutsey; his beautiful great grandchildren: E t h y n and Kaden Firestone; his brother, Douglas Firestone and wife Sharon of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and his sister, Carol Swink and her husband Charles of Connellsville, Pennsylvania.
Rodger was predeceased by his parents; and by a brother, Harry L. Firestone Jr.
Family and Friends will be received on Monday and on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 East Green Street, Connellsville, PA 15425 where a Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Joseph McCarty officiating.
A Committal Service and interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville, Pennsylvania.
