Greene man faces trial in prescription drug case
A Greene County man will stand trial on multiple charges after he allegedly sold prescription pain medication to a confidential informant near a school in Uniontown last fall.
Detective Ryan Reese of the Fayette County Drug Task Force said Arleigh Seaton Courie, 22, of Carmichaels was charged before Magisterial District Judge Michael M. Metros with possession with intent to deliver and criminal conspiracy to deliver drugs following the undercover sting conducted Oct. 12.
Following a preliminary hearing Tuesday, Metros held all charges against Courie for Fayette County Court.
Reese said that the sting occurred when a confidential informant working with police arranged for a drug purchase in the parking lot of a business on Connellsville Street, adjacent to Lafayette School.
Reese said that Courie met the informant in the parking lot, where the informant paid cash for 25 Oxycontin pills.
Reese said that as soon as the transaction was completed, police arrested Courie without incident.
According to Reese, Courie gave police a verbal and written confession regarding the drug sale and also told officers that he had another person with him act as a lookout during the sale because he was “scared to death.”
