Results from the Eighty Four Livestock Auction held Feb. 28 as follow:

Compared to last week’s sale, slaughter cows traded mostly 1 and lower. Slaughter bulls sold steady. Supply included 114 slaughter cows, 17 slaughter bulls, 36 feeder cattle. All prices are per hundredweight.

Slaughter cattle:

Slaughter steers: Select 1 to 2 1,365 pounds, 99. Slaughter holstein steers: Choice 1 to 2 1,480 to 1,530 pounds, 82 to 86. Select, 1 to 2, 1,205 to 1,555 pounds, 78 to 80. Slaughter heifers: No test.

Slaughter cows: Premium whites 65 to 75 percent lean, average dressing, 73 to 74.50; Breakers 75 to 80 percent lean, average dressing, 68 to 71.50; high dressing, 72.50; low dressing, 67 to 67.50. Boners 80 to 85 percent lean, average dressing, 64.50 to 67.50; high dressing, 64; low dressing, 60.50 to 61.50. Lean 85 to 90 percent lean, average dressing, 57 to 62.50; high dressing, 64; low dressing, 54 to 57.50.

Slaughter bulls: Slaughter Bulls: Yield Grade 1 1,165-2,190 pounds, 76-83.50, a few 88-90. Yield Grade 2 1325-1755 pounds, 71-74.50.

Feeder Cattle:

Steers: Medium and large 3, 600-700 pounds, 64.

Heifers: Medium and large 1, 400 pounds, 105. Medium and large 2, 300 pounds, 100.

Bulls: Medium and large 1, 500-600 pounds, 111. Medium and large 2, 250-300 pounds, 147.50; 300-500 pounds, 90-111.

Feeder Calves: No. 1 Holstein bulls 90 to 120 pounds, 100 to 120. No. 2 Holstein bulls 90 to 130 pounds, 70 to 92.50. No. 3 Holstein bulls 85 to 120 pounds, 35 to 65. Holstein heifers: No. 1: 95 pounds, 135. Beef calves: 80 to 115 pounds, 110 to 130.

Vealers: Utility 65 to 120 pounds, 15 to 30.

Slaughter hogs: Barrows and gilts, no test.

Sows: No test; Boars: No test; Feeder pigs: No test.

Slaughter lambs: Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 50 pounds, 257.50 to 267; 70 to 100 pounds, 237.50 to 245.

Slaughter yearlings: 85 to 120 pounds, 132.50 to 172.50.

Slaughter ewes: Utility 1 to 2, 120 to 220 pounds, 100 to 127.50.

Slaughter goats: sold per head.

Slaughter kids: No test.

Slaughter nannies: Selection 2, 100 pounds, 90 per head. Selection 3, 43 pounds, 31 to 50.

Slaughter billies: Selection 2, 185 pounds, 105 per hundredweight.

Slaughter whethers: No test.

Results for Waynesburg Livestock Auction for March 3 were:

Stock cows: 50 to 75. Slaughter cows: Utility and commercial, 60 to 81; boner and boning utility, 58 to 65; cutter and boning utility, 50 to 61; canner and low cutter, 41 to 50. Bulls: Yield Grade 1 1,500 to 2,000 pounds, 59 to 84; yield grade 2, 1,000 to 1,400 pounds, 45 to 72. Feeder steers: Medium and light, 1, 250 to 280 pounds, 82 to 125; 300 to 500 pounds, 70 to 145; 600 to 900 pounds, 70 to 120; heifers, medium and light 1, 300 to 500 pounds, 82 to 100; light 1, 400 to 650 pounds, 71 to 125; bulls medium and light, 1, 300 to 620 pounds, 60 to 124.

Calves: Veal, prime, 80 to 105; choice, 60 to 95; good, 40 to 55.

Farm calves: No. 1 Holstein bulls, 90 to 120 pounds, few, 35 to 80; No. 2 Holstein bulls, 15 to 55; beef – bull and heifers/head, 50 to 150.

Hogs: Barrows and gilts, 1 to 2, 210 to 255 pounds, 50 to 63.50; 2 to 3, 255 to 280 pounds, 40 to 64; sows 1 to 3, 300 to 500 pounds, 55 to 70. Feeder pigs, 1 to 3, 15 to 20 pounds, 10 to 21 per head; 1 to 3, 25 to 35 pounds, 15 to 34 per head.

Lambs: High choice, 80 to 100 pounds, 110 to 230; choice, 40 to 75 pounds, 130 to 250; feeder lambs, good, 60 to 130. Sheep, 25 to 80; fat sheep, 22 to 80. Goats, large, 65 to 175 per head; medium, 50 to 140 per head; small, 5 to 70 per head.
