Eleanor Ruth Johnson Grubbs, 79, of South Connellsville, died Sunday, March 6, 2011, at Golden Living Nursing Home, Uniontown.

She was born February 12, 1932, in South Connellsville, a daughter of the late Charles and Agnes (Bryner) Johnson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Jean Lemming; daughter, Gloria Faye Grubbs; and great-grandson, Gunner Alan Kelley.

Eleanor was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker.

She was a member of the Highlands Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, where she volunteered in the hospital snack bar for more than 30 years.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, John Thomas “J.T.” Grubbs; brother, Lawerence (Bud) Johnson and wife, Sue of Jacksonville, Fla.; sons, Thomas Grubbs and wife, Mischelle, of Pittsburgh, Terry Grubbs and wife, Wanda of South Connellsville, Dale Grubbs and wife, Corinna of Connellsville, Mark Grubbs and wife, Sherry of Connellsville and Eric Grubbs and wife, Patty of South Connellsville; daughter, Carolyn Owade and husband, Greg of Connellsville; nephew, Charles Dennis Lemming of Scottdale; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until the hour of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME INC., 418 N. Pittsburgh St., Connellsville.

Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Memorial Cemetery.

Her family would like to thank Golden Living Nursing Home for their loving and special care they gave their mother.
