Perryopolis council seeks estimate for work at community ballfield
PERRYOPOLIS – Borough council agreed to acquire a final estimtate from a contractor to install a light pole at the community’s ballfield, as baseball season is set to begin in the next few weeks.
At Wednesday’s meeting, council President Ronald Lombard said the borough received a quote of $1,100 from Krumanacker Electrical Service of Connellsville. However, Lombard said he was interested in what it would cost to extend the electric line from the pole to the concession stand.
Lombard added the pole would also need to be inspected.
Additionally, council discussed tapping into a water line to be installed at the ballfield for restrooms, which are being constructed behind the concession stand.
The North Fayette County Municipal Authority agreed last month to provide a service tap for the restrooms.
While the authority’s manager recommended a one-inch water line be used, council discussed the possibility of needing a two-inch line for better flow.
“If we’re going to make an investment I’d rather plan ahead,” Lombard said.
In a separate matter, council agreed to advertise for bids for a curb project that would be paid for with liquid fuels funding.
The project involves replacing gutter curbs and straight curbs in the area of the town circle.
Turning to other business, council agreed to contract with the Fayette County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals to take over animal control services at a cost of $87 per month following the closure of the Human Society of Fayette County.
Council also agreed to advertise a storm water management ordinance being mandated for all municipalities by the state Department of Environmental Protection.
