Police: Three drive stolen car from Ohio

By Josh Krysak 2 min read

Three Fayette County residents are facing charges after they allegedly stole a car in Ohio, drove it to Georges Township and then were caught by police trying to burglarize a house Wednesday.

State police Trooper Stefani A. Plume said charges including theft and burglary were filed before Magisterial District Judge Randy S. Abraham against Brittany Nicole Ewing, 21, of McClellandtown; Michael David Mongeluzzo, 21, of Uniontown and Harley Foster Lawver, 20, of Cardale.

Plume said Ewing was captured by police at a location in Georges Township but said the other suspects remain at large.

The charges were filed after Donald Bender of Lorain, Ohio, contacted state police in Uniontown early Wednesday.

According to Plume, Bender told police that his car had been stolen from his home in Lorain sometime between midnight and 6 a.m.

Bender added that in addition to contacting Lorain police, he was able to use a GPS unit inside the car to track it to a location in Georges Township.

Troopers responded to the location on First Street in Continental 3 and found the car, with Ewing sitting in the passenger side of the car. She was taken into custody without incident.

Plume said investigators then discovered that troopers had arrived at the location as the trio was attempting to burglarize the home of Merle and Alice Ohler of Georges Township.

Neighbors reported that two men, believed to be Mongeluzzo and Lawver, ran from the residence prior to police arrival. Plume said troopers searched the area but were unable to locate the men.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Mongeluzzo and Lawver is asked to call police at 724-439-7111.
