Suspect eludes police following chase

1 min read

Uniontown police said what began as a routine traffic stop turned into a high-speed pursuit early today in Uniontown.

Officer Matthew Painter said that the incident began shortly after 1 a.m. while he and Officer Jonathan Grabiak were on patrol on Pittsburgh Street.

Painter said that he observed a pickup truck traveling on Pittsburgh Street and noticed that one of the taillights was not working.

Additionally, the truck had a very loud exhaust system, Painter said.

Painter said he attempted to make traffic stop but that the driver of the truck accelerated and began to commit multiple traffic violations.
