Rev. Jeffrey Wayne Tarpley, Sr.
Rev. Jeffrey Wayne Tarpley, Sr., 59, of Uniontown, Pa. died Monday, March 14, 2011 in the Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of Greater Pittsburgh, Greensburg, Pa.
He was born October 1, 1951 in Uniontown Hospital, to Matthew Jr. and Arlene Tarpley.
Jeff was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, where he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board. He graduated from North Union High School and after graduation, Jeff enlisted in the United States Navy in 1969.
Surviving are one daughter, Waynette Elizabeth (Vital) of Miami, Florida and one son, Jeffrey Wayne, Jr. of Graterford, Pa.; mother, Arlene Tarpley of Uniontown; two brothers: Cedric (Patricia) of Severn, Md.; Maurice, Odenton, Md.; Vernon Chandler (cousin/like a brother); three uncles; Kenneth, Melvin and Ronald; two aunts: Lois and Lillian; one niece, Tammy (Tommy), Odenton, Md.; four nephews: Chad (April), Beaverton, Oregon, Victor, Uniontown; Demetrick and Mario, Severn, Md.; three great nieces and two great nephews; cousins, and other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his father, Matthew D. Tarpley, Jr.; parental grandparents, Lucy and Matthew D. Tarpley, Sr. and maternal grandparents, Marguerite and Aaron Mickens.
Friends will be received in MOUNT OLIVET BAPTIST CHURCH, 57 Stewart Ave, Uniontown, PA on Saturday, March 19, 2011, viewing from 10 to 11 a.m., funeral service at 11 a.m.
Reverend Vincent Winfrey, Sr. will officiate the service.
Burial follows in Chapel of Memories Mausoleum, Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, PA, under direction of the MURIEL E. LANTZ FUNERAL HOME, 297 East Main Street, Uniontown, PA.
