Vigil held for missing Masontown girl
MASONTOWN – A vigil was held Thursday night at the German-Masontown Park in Masontown for the safe return of a teen reported missing two weeks ago.
Masontown police Chief Joe Ryan said Jodi Corob, 17, was reported missing by her family from her Arlington Avenue home March 11 and has not been heard from since.
Ryan said that police do not believe that foul play is involved in the girl’s disappearance and that she likely ran away from home.
He noted, however, that police are following all leads regarding her whereabouts and will continue to do so until she is found.
Family friend Anita Williams of Masontown said the vigil Thursday was organized so the community could help spread the word about Corob and help try to locate her.
Williams said that Corob, who is described as a white girl with shoulder-length light brown hair and blue eyes, went to bed sometime March 10 and that when her mother woke March 11 she was gone.
She noted that Williams has not been spotted since she was reported missing and that she has not logged into her social networking accounts, like Facebook, since she was reported missing.
Williams is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs about 155 pounds. She also wears glasses.
Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts is asked to call the Masontown police at 724-583-7779.
