Bible club members from three area schools kicked off their campaign this week with a press conference to announce an effort to urge Congress to recognize first responders, including firefighters, police officers and EMS workers, with a national holiday.

The club members from Uniontown Area, Albert Gallatin Area and Laurel Highlands have started a petition they plan to take to Harrisburg on Sept. 9.

?During the conference, the students also spoke of the initiative to expand the campaign to include Bible club members from high schools nationwide.

Also speaking at the event were club advisers the Rev. Travis Dean and the Rev. Pete Malik, both co-directors of Penn Highlands Teens For Christ.

More information and a downloadable petition are available at www.911Sunday.com.
