?WAYNESBURG — A Waynesburg man awaits a preliminary hearing for numerous charges stemming from allegations that he sexually assaulted two girls on several occasions during a five-year span.

Albert James Lahew, 45, was arraigned by state police on March 25 on six felony counts of aggravated indecent assault, three felony counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, two felony counts of indecent assault, and two misdemeanor counts each of indecent assault and corruption of minors.

The charges were filed following allegations that he sexually assaulted two girls at locations in Center Township and Franklin Township between the summer of 2005 and August 2010.

According to the criminal complaint, two girls were brought by their parents to the state police station in Waynesburg on March 21 to report that the juveniles had been assaulted.

During police interviews, one of the girls told authorities that Lahew had started inappropriately touching her when she was 12 years old and that the incidents became more frequent over time, the complaint states.

An investigation by police determined that Lahew previously had been convicted of two other cases of indecent assault, the complaint states.

Following their investigation, police requested a warrant for Lahew’s arrest on March 25, the complaint states.

Following arraignment before Magisterial District Judge Glenn Bates, Lahew was remanded to Greene County Jail after failing to post $50,000 straight bail.

He has been scheduled to appear before Magisterial District Judge Lou Dayich for a preliminary hearing on April 11.
